TiviMate Player Guide

The most feature-rich IPTV app — setup, EPG, recording and advanced tips.

Overview

TiviMate is widely considered the best IPTV player available for Android-based devices. Developed by AR Mobile Dev, it is designed to look and feel like a traditional TV guide — the kind you would find on a cable or satellite box — rather than a basic playlist viewer.

What sets TiviMate apart is its best-in-class electronic programme guide (EPG), fast channel switching, built-in recording support, multi-view capability and catch-up playback. It turns any Android device into a full-featured IPTV set-top box.

TiviMate runs on Android phones, Android tablets, Android TV boxes, Nvidia Shield and Amazon Fire Stick. It is not available on iOS, Samsung Tizen or LG webOS. If you use one of those platforms, you will need a different player.

You can find the official app on TiviMate on Google Play.

Installation

How you install TiviMate depends on your device. Android TV and phones get it from the Play Store. Fire Stick requires sideloading because TiviMate is not listed in the Amazon App Store.

Fire Stick (Sideload)

The Fire Stick does not carry TiviMate in its app store, so you need to install it manually using the Downloader app.

  1. Install Downloader from the Amazon App Store. Search for "Downloader" and install the orange icon app.
  2. Enable unknown apps. Go to Settings > My Fire TV > Developer Options (or Settings > My Fire TV > Install Unknown Apps on newer firmware). Toggle Downloader to "On".
  3. Open Downloader and type the TiviMate APK URL into the address bar. You can search "TiviMate APK" to find the latest download link, or get it directly from your IPTV provider.
  4. Install when prompted. Once the file downloads, tap "Install" and wait for it to finish. Open TiviMate from your apps list.

For a full walkthrough on sideloading apps and optimising your Fire Stick for IPTV, see our IPTV on Fire Stick guide.

Android TV / Nvidia Shield

Open the Google Play Store on your device, search for "TiviMate" and tap Install. The app appears in your apps drawer once installation completes. Nvidia Shield uses the same Android TV platform, so the process is identical.

Android Phone or Tablet

Open the Play Store, search "TiviMate IPTV Player" and install it. The mobile version has the same features as the TV version, with a touch-friendly interface.

Not available everywhere: TiviMate is not available on iOS, Samsung Smart TVs or LG Smart TVs. For those devices, use IPTV Smarters Pro instead.

Adding Your IPTV Playlist

Once TiviMate is installed, you need to add your IPTV subscription details so it can load your channels. TiviMate supports two methods: Xtream Codes login and M3U playlist URL. Xtream Codes is the better option in almost every case.

  1. Open TiviMate. On first launch, it prompts you to add a playlist.
  2. Tap "Add playlist".
  3. Choose "Xtream Codes" (recommended) or "M3U playlist".
  4. For Xtream Codes, enter your Server URL, Username and Password. Your IPTV provider sends these in your welcome email or account dashboard. If you need a subscription, see our guide on how to choose an IPTV provider.
  5. Tap "Next".
  6. Name your playlist something recognisable — for example, "XtremeHD".
  7. Wait for the channel list to download. This takes a few seconds on a good connection.

Tip: Always use Xtream Codes login over M3U. It enables EPG, catch-up and category sorting that a raw M3U URL does not support.

EPG (Programme Guide) Setup

The EPG is TiviMate's standout feature. It displays a full grid of programmes across all your channels, just like a cable TV guide. You can scroll through hours of upcoming content, set reminders and jump to any programme with a single tap.

Automatic EPG via Xtream Codes

If you added your playlist using Xtream Codes login, EPG data loads automatically from your provider. There is nothing extra to configure. The guide populates within a minute or two of adding the playlist.

EPG Update Interval

Go to Settings > EPG > Update interval and set it to 24 hours. This keeps the guide current without downloading data too frequently. TiviMate refreshes the EPG in the background at your chosen interval.

EPG Not Showing Data

If your guide grid is empty after adding a playlist, go to Settings > EPG > Update and trigger a manual refresh. Wait for the download to finish — the progress appears on screen. Large channel lists can take a minute or two to fully populate.

Fixing Incorrect Programme Times

If programme times are shifted by an hour or more, adjust the time offset. Go to Settings > EPG > Time shift and increase or decrease the value until times match your local schedule.

If your EPG still refuses to load after these steps, our dedicated EPG troubleshooting guide covers every known fix.

Key Features

TiviMate packs more functionality into a single app than most IPTV players combined. Here is what you get.

Multi-View

Watch two to four channels simultaneously on the same screen. Each channel plays in its own tile, and you can tap any tile to make it full screen. This is a premium-only feature and works best on tablets and TV boxes with enough processing power.

Recording

Record live TV directly to your device storage. You can schedule recordings in advance through the EPG or start recording mid-programme. Make sure your device has enough free storage — one hour of HD content uses roughly 2–4 GB. Recording requires TiviMate Premium.

Catch-Up

Watch programmes that have already aired, provided your IPTV provider supports catch-up on the channel. TiviMate shows a "Catch-up" label on supported channels. Tap a past programme in the EPG to play it.

Favourites and Channel Groups

Star any channel to add it to your favourites list for quick access. You can also organise channels into custom groups by country, category, language or any other criteria that suits your viewing habits.

Picture-in-Picture

Shrink TiviMate to a small floating window and keep watching while you use other apps. This works on Android phones and tablets running Android 8.0 or later.

Parental Lock

Set a PIN to lock specific channels or entire channel groups. Locked channels require the PIN before they play, keeping restricted content out of reach.

Is TiviMate Premium Worth It?

TiviMate Premium costs approximately £4 per year. You purchase it through the TiviMate Companion app, which is available on the Google Play Store. The companion app handles licensing — once activated, premium features unlock in the main TiviMate app automatically.

For that price, you get recording, multi-view, catch-up, support for up to five playlists and scheduled EPG recordings. The free version is fully functional for everyday watching with EPG and a single playlist, so you can try it before committing.

If you watch IPTV regularly and want recording or multi-view, Premium pays for itself within the first week. At roughly £4 per year, it is one of the best value upgrades available to any IPTV user.

Tip: At around £4/year, TiviMate Premium is one of the best value upgrades for any IPTV user.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Most TiviMate problems have straightforward fixes. Work through the relevant section below.

EPG Not Loading

Go to Settings > EPG > Update and trigger a manual refresh. If it still fails, check that you added your playlist using Xtream Codes rather than a plain M3U link. M3U playlists often lack EPG data. For a full walkthrough, see our EPG troubleshooting guide.

Buffering and Freezing

Open Settings > Playback > Buffer size and increase it. A larger buffer gives the player more headroom on slower connections. Also check your internet speed and Wi-Fi signal strength. If your ISP is throttling streaming traffic, using a VPN can restore full speed. Our buffering fix guide covers every solution in detail.

Black Screen on Channels

A black screen usually means the video decoder cannot handle the stream format. Go to Settings > Playback > Decoder and switch between hardware and software decoding. Software decoding is slower but handles more formats. If only certain channels show a black screen, those streams may use a codec your device does not support natively. Our guide on how IPTV works explains stream protocols and codecs in more detail.

App Crashes on Fire Stick

Fire Sticks have limited memory and storage. Clear the TiviMate cache under Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications > TiviMate > Clear Cache. Check that your Fire Stick has at least 500 MB of free storage. Uninstall apps you no longer use to free up space. Restarting the device also helps if it has been running for days without a reboot.

Recording Fails or Stops Early

Check your storage space first. Recording requires substantial free space — at least a few gigabytes for a single programme. If you are recording to a USB drive, make sure it is formatted as FAT32 and that the Fire Stick or Android TV box recognises it as storage. Some devices require you to set the USB drive as "adoptable storage" before apps can write to it.
