IPTV on Smart TVs

Set up IPTV directly on your Samsung, LG or Android TV — no extra hardware needed.

Smart TV IPTV Overview

Every modern Smart TV runs its own operating system and comes with a built-in app store. Samsung televisions use Tizen OS, LG uses webOS, and a wide range of other brands — including Sony, Philips, TCL and Hisense — run Android TV or Google TV. Each platform handles IPTV apps differently, so the setup process depends on which TV you own.

The key difference between these platforms is app availability. Android TV and Google TV give you full access to the Google Play Store, which means you can install virtually any IPTV app. Samsung and LG have their own app stores with more limited selections, though the most popular IPTV apps are still available on both.

If you are buying a new television and plan to use IPTV, Android TV or Google TV is the most flexible choice. You get the widest range of apps, regular updates, and a familiar interface. That said, Samsung and LG televisions work perfectly well for IPTV — you just have fewer app options.

The sections below walk you through the exact setup steps for each platform. Find your TV brand and follow the instructions to get IPTV running in minutes.

IPTV on Samsung Smart TVs (Tizen OS)

Samsung Smart TVs run Tizen OS and have their own Samsung App Store. While the selection of IPTV apps is more limited than Android TV, the most important apps are available and work well.

Install IPTV Smarters Pro

IPTV Smarters Pro is available directly from the Samsung App Store on newer Samsung televisions. This is the easiest and most reliable way to get IPTV running on your Samsung TV.

  1. Turn on your Samsung Smart TV and make sure it is connected to your Wi-Fi network.
  2. Open the Samsung App Store from the home screen or by pressing the Apps button on your remote.
  3. Use the search function to find IPTV Smarters.
  4. Select the app and press Install.
  5. Open the app once it finishes installing.
  6. Enter your XtremeHD IPTV credentials — your username, password and server URL from your welcome email. If you do not have a subscription yet, our guide on how to choose an IPTV provider can help you pick the right plan.

That is all it takes. The app loads your channel list, EPG and VOD library automatically once you log in.

Alternative: Smart IPTV (SIPTV)

If IPTV Smarters is not available on your model, Smart IPTV (SIPTV) is another option. You can sideload it via USB or activate it through the app's website at siptv.eu. Smart IPTV works with M3U playlists and is straightforward to configure.

Older Samsung TVs

Samsung televisions made before 2017 may not support these apps through the app store. If your TV is an older model and you cannot find a suitable IPTV app, the best solution is to connect an Amazon Fire Stick to one of the HDMI ports. A Fire Stick gives you full access to all IPTV apps without needing to replace your TV.

Samsung compatibility: Samsung Smart TVs from 2017 onwards support IPTV Smarters Pro from the Samsung App Store. Older models may need a Fire Stick.

IPTV on LG Smart TVs (webOS)

LG Smart TVs run webOS and come with the LG Content Store for downloading apps. Like Samsung, the IPTV app selection is more limited than Android TV, but the key apps are available.

Install IPTV Smarters

IPTV Smarters is available on LG webOS televisions through the Content Store. Follow these steps to install and set it up.

  1. Press the Home button on your LG remote to open the launcher bar.
  2. Navigate to and open the LG Content Store.
  3. Search for IPTV Smarters using the search function.
  4. Select the app and press Install.
  5. Open the app after installation completes.
  6. Enter your XtremeHD IPTV login details — username, password and server URL.

Once logged in, your channels and programme guide load automatically. You can start watching straight away.

Alternative: Smart IPTV (SIPTV)

Smart IPTV is also available on LG webOS. It uses M3U playlists rather than Xtream Codes login, so you will need your M3U URL instead of username and password credentials. Contact XtremeHD support if you need your M3U link.

Older LG TVs

LG televisions running older versions of webOS or the legacy NetCast platform may not have access to these apps. In that case, connect an Amazon Fire Stick or Android TV box to your TV's HDMI port for the best IPTV experience.

IPTV on Android TV / Google TV

Android TV and Google TV are found on televisions from Sony, Philips, TCL, Hisense and others, as well as dedicated streaming devices like the Nvidia Shield TV. These platforms give you full access to the Google Play Store, making them the easiest and most flexible option for IPTV.

Install Your Preferred IPTV App

With full Play Store access, you can choose from every major IPTV app. The best options are IPTV Smarters Pro, TiviMate and XCIPTV Player.

  1. Open the Google Play Store from your TV's home screen.
  2. Search for your preferred IPTV app — IPTV Smarters Pro, TiviMate or XCIPTV.
  3. Select the app and press Install.
  4. Open the app once it has installed.
  5. Enter your XtremeHD IPTV credentials to log in.

The entire process takes under two minutes. Your channels, VOD content and EPG programme guide appear as soon as you log in.

Why Android TV Is Best for IPTV

Android TV has full app compatibility with no sideloading required. Every IPTV app on the market supports it. You get regular software updates, Google Cast support and voice search through Google Assistant. If you are serious about IPTV, this is the platform to choose.

Nvidia Shield TV

The Nvidia Shield TV is the premium Android TV device. It has a powerful processor, wired ethernet, expandable storage and support for 4K HDR with Dolby Vision and Atmos. For power users who want the absolute best performance from their IPTV setup, the Shield is the top choice.

Buying a new TV? Android/Google TV has the widest IPTV app support. If you're buying a new Smart TV, choose one running Android TV or Google TV.

Which App for Your Smart TV?

Not every app runs on every platform. This table shows you which IPTV apps work on which Smart TV operating system, along with their standout features.

App Samsung LG Android TV Key Features
IPTV Smarters Pro Yes Yes Yes Easy setup, EPG, multi-screen
TiviMate No No Yes Best EPG, recording, advanced features
XCIPTV Player No No Yes Clean interface, fast loading

If your TV runs Android TV or Google TV, TiviMate is the strongest option for most users. It has the best programme guide, supports recording and offers deep customisation. IPTV Smarters Pro is the safest all-round choice because it works on every platform.

For Samsung and LG owners, IPTV Smarters Pro is the recommended app. It gives you a clean interface, full EPG support and reliable performance across both Tizen and webOS.

Tips for Smart TV IPTV

Once your IPTV app is installed and working, these tips help you get the best possible performance from your Smart TV setup.

Keep Your TV Firmware Updated

Smart TV manufacturers release firmware updates that fix bugs, improve app compatibility and patch security issues. Check for updates regularly in your TV's settings menu. Outdated firmware is one of the most common causes of apps crashing or running slowly.

Use a Wired Ethernet Connection

Most Smart TVs have an ethernet port on the back panel. Plug a cable directly from your router to your TV for the most stable and fastest connection. Wi-Fi works, but ethernet eliminates signal drops, interference and speed fluctuations that can cause buffering during live streams.

Clear App Cache Periodically

Over time, cached data builds up and can slow your IPTV app down. Go to Settings > Apps > [your IPTV app] > Clear Cache every few weeks. This does not delete your login or settings — it simply removes temporary files the app no longer needs.

Set Custom DNS Servers

Changing your TV's DNS settings to 8.8.8.8 (Google) or 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare) can speed up channel loading times. Your TV's default DNS from your ISP is often slower. You will find DNS settings in your TV's network configuration menu. If your ISP throttles streaming traffic, using a VPN alongside custom DNS can further improve performance and protect your privacy.

Consider a Dedicated Streaming Device

If your IPTV app runs slowly on your Smart TV — especially on older models — a dedicated device like the Amazon Fire Stick 4K or Nvidia Shield TV delivers much better performance. Smart TV processors are designed for basic apps, not heavy streaming workloads. A dedicated device gives you a faster processor, more memory and better app support.
